The Lac des Castors Chalets are located in the municipality of Chertsey in Lanaudière, Quebec, a region of wide open spaces, lakes and forests just an hour and a half outside of Montreal.
The Lanaudière forest landscape is adorned with numerous rivers and falls. Vast expanses of land have remained untouched, much to the delight of the beaver, who is very busy in these parts!
Get moving: Snowmobiling, dog sledding, skiing, inner tubing, skating and snowshoeing are among the many activities the region has to offer in winter. Lanaudière has gained international renown for snowmobiling, with its 2300 km of groomed trails and an extra two months of snow per year compared to our neighbours to the south. It’s also “quad” country with 1085 km of summer trails and 821 km of winter trails, all groomed and marked. (1)
Relax: Let yourself be captivated by the scenery, and dream of big open spaces…as you curl up by the fire. Take advantage of local amenities, such as Nordic baths and massage therapy. Or simply breathe in the fresh air on a healthful walk in nature.
Savour: Lanaudière is home to the most fertile lands in Quebec, and agriculture figures prominently in the region’s economy. Organic farming is also gaining in popularity. What’s more, the region boasts a high concentration of maple syrup producers. The local specialties, prepared in the region’s restaurants, are a must to discover! (See the Our Favourite Places page).
It is a joy for me to have you discover this region that is so dear to me, having lived here since my teenage years, more precisely in Rawdon where my parents live to this day.
Enjoy your stay!
